2009 Week 4 Power Rankings

Carson Flag Football League presents:

2009

Power Rankings:

Week 3

POWER RANKINGS

The Power Rankings are based on merit rather than ability or perceived ability.  A team could have some of the best players in the league, but can still be ranked low because they haven't earned it yet.  It doesn't matter what the team or the players of that team have done in other leagues or in that Saturday morning pickup game - In the end, it's the team's performance in Carson Football league games that's crucial to a higher ranking.

NOTE: Established teams (teams from previous seasons) will generally rank higher in the early Power Rankings (approx. Week 1 to Week 4) as they've earned their reputation through past seasons.  These teams are also less likely to drop as much from a loss or two.

OC Cougar Hunters (6-0-0)                                                                                As the only 6-0 team (only undefeated team left) in the league, the OC Cougar Hunters Remain at the Top spot after a easy win over the 20-0 Descarados.  Is there any legitimate contender to the OC Cougar Hunters crown?  Or maybe it's too early to jump on the bandwagon just yet.  Nevertheless, after last week's victory (giving them the top record in the league), the OC Cougar Hunters are finally getting respect from around the league as the top team. This week crucial game versus the athletic Long Beach Crusaders (3-3) will go a long way.

 2: Last Week
1st Choice (3-1-1)                                                                                   1st Choice suffered there first defeat with a stunning lost to Free Agent 12-8 in the league.  However, they looked very capable of winning but with several trips in the en zone and came up with no points. 1st choice had a chance to win the game with only seconds on the clock but QB Daniel Sanchez came up short on the final play of the game.  For the next weeks, 1st Choice will undergo soft part of there schedule.  It's  will be crunch time for the Choice's to prove themselves in a couple weeks when the face OC Cougar Hunters.  Game on!
 3: Last Week .

Long Beach All- Stars (5-1-1)                                                  The Beach get back to respectability by defeating a tough Slaughter House team 27-0. This was Long Beach most impressive victory, the All-Stars are clicking on full cylinder now with QB Desaen Smith running the 1 spot and Chuck Lazamo connecting with WR Jonithon Hollywood on TDs. Long Beach defense really showed up this weekend allowing 0 points in 2 games. All-Pro QB Chuck Lazamo, who made an immediate impact in his 2nd and 3rd game back this past week.
 4
 Hollywood
 4: Last Week
↔ Hollywood (3-3-0)                                                                This speaks volumes on the unpredictable nature of the Team Hollywood. Suffering a tough defeat to the Crusaders 0-20, Holly wood was beaten by large plays. When, they're at their best, they can beat any team in the league. Team Hollywood  may have been caught by surprise by a very athletic Crusaders team.  Nevertheless, they still played a strong, respectable game against a very good team and should continue to present a legitimate challenge to all contenders.  Note: Team Hollywood play the Lazy Boys in there first game and have a very important match up with 2nd rank 1st Choice this week.  Team QB Domique Willis continue to leads the league in rushing yards this year with over 500 yards.

 5: Last Week
Slaughter House (4-2-0)                                                         The House  was convincingly defeated by Long Beach All-stars this past week (27-0). It was surely a wake up call for Slaughter House this week.  The team directly above them (Hollywood) still hold the victory over their only head-to-head match-up earlier this season.  The House have a very important match-up next week versus Bad company, you would say that this is a must win game for the House.1st choice and OC Cougars on there up coming schedule, the House have their eyes set on the conference title
6  Free Agents
 8: Last Week
↑ Free Agents (3-2-0)                                                                              Free Agents came away with the most stunning victory of the season with a 12-8 victory, the Free Agent move up several spots in the rankings.  Apparently, voters wanted to see how the Free Agent would fair against more credible opponents before placing them too high. QB Glen Harper had a 80 yard TD run that help put the victory away this week, they play the Long Beach and OC Cougar Hunter - an undefeated team that should bring plenty of credibility to the Free Agent if they can win it.

 7: Last Week
Bad Company (2-3-0)                                                          Bad Company maintains their spot in the rankings, neither moving up or down.  Nothing new was learned about Bad Company this week because of they easy victory  20-0 over Lazy Boys other than the fact that they improve their record to 2-3.  While, it's unfair to not move them up in a game that they won, voters wanted to take a wait and see approach before they made any move.  Nevertheless, Bad Company will get plenty of opportunities to prove themselves in the coming weeks. Bad Company have a key game versus league rivals Slaughter House this Sunday.
8Crusaders
 9: Last Week
Crusaders (2-3-0)                                                               Every voter wanted to move the Crusaders up the rankings after their victory against the Hollywood, but felt there wasn't any team that deserved to drop below them this week.  The Crusaders were very impressive in another game that you could argue that they deserved win.  The Crusaders have been playing extremely well this season, but they still need to find a way to finish off teams.  They are also susceptible to giving up the big play - this year they've given up two 70-yard plays and three plays with a net gain of 45 yards or more (every one of which resulted in a touchdown score) With a tremendous amount of athleticism on this team the League need to take a good look at this team.

 5: Last Week
↓ Saints (1-4-0)                                                                 Despite playing a hard fought game with only 9 players against a strong 1st Choice and Long Beach teams, the Saints still dropped several spots in the rankings this week.  Apparently, voters wanted to see how the Saints would fair against more credible opponents before placing them too high.  This week, they play the Free Agent - an tough team that should bring plenty of credibility to the Saints if they can win it.

10
 10: Last Week
  Descarados (0-4-0)
One thing is certain, the Descarados do have the athletes to be an excellent team in this league.  However, they will need to be more consistent with their execution and figure out who their QB is, before they can move forward.  Defense is where they excel - they've only giving up a total of 28 points in their two losses.  Looking forward, the Descarados will look to get out of the cellar as they face a division rival this Sunday (Crusaders). Everyone is just wondering when will this team wake up.
11Lazy Boys
 11: Last Week
  Lazy Boys (0-5-0)
The Lazy Boys showed some progress last week, with a strong effort against the Bad Company and free Agents.  They were able to put some yards on the Board while only giving up 34 in 2 games.  However, if the team continues to struggle with their running game and passing game (27 attempts, 69 YDS), they'll be hard pressed to get a win anytime soon. This week they have a tough road ahead with a visit with 1st Choice and Team Hollywood.
